CJ 104A Criminal Justice Personal Defense, Beginning Lab Hours: 3 Credits: 1
Designed to introduce the knowledge and safety of personal defense to Criminal Justice students. Uses the elements of responding to surprise attacks, principles of leverage, and active movements as key factors in the methods. Develops skills to defend oneself and others, if needed.
Prerequisite: CJ 103 with a grade of C or better, or consent of instructor. Student Learning Outcomes:
- Perform correct striking techniques.
- Perform correct punch defense techniques.
- Perform strikes and blocks utilizing hand-held bags.
- Understand the limitations of the mind during an attack.
