CJ 104B Criminal Justice Personal Defense, Intermediate


Lab Hours: 3
Credits: 1

Designed to introduce the knowledge and safety of personal defense to Criminal Justice students. Uses the elements of responding to surprise attacks, principles of leverage, and active movements as key factors in the methods. Develops skills to defend oneself and others, if needed.

Prerequisite: CJ 103  with a grade of C or better; or consent of instructor.
Student Learning Outcomes:
  1. Perform correct takedown movements.
  2. Perform joint manipulation and pressure point compliance.
  3. Perform mid-body defense and center-line control.
  4. Understand the body’s limitations and reactions during an attack.
  5. Understand the difficulties and limitations presented to criminal justice personnel in ground fighting.
