NUR 412 Issues and Trends in Professional Nursing Lecture Hours: 6 Credits: 6
Analyzes the impact of economic, demographic, and technological forces on healthcare delivery and the concerns relating to ethical, legal, and social issues that influence nursing practice. Gives perspective on a historical background to current nursing problems and future trends regarding their impact on roles and practice. Examines Issues currently impacting professional nursing. Explores the potential transformation of nursing practice in response to societal changes as well as the new opportunities these challenges have for career development.

- Discuss the evolution of the nursing profession in relation to current and future trends in nursing practice (EPSLO 4, 7)
- Analyze current ethical, economic, demographic, and technological challenges facing health care that impact the quality of nursing care (EPSLO 1, 2, 5, 8).
