HST 201Z United States History 1 Lecture Hours: 4 Credits: 4
Survey of North America and United States history to the early 1800s: Native America, European colonization, colonial development, origins of slavery, American Revolution, early Republic, and Market Revolution.
Prerequisite: Placement into WR 115 (or higher), or completion of WR 090 (or higher) with a grade of C or better; or consent of instructor. Student Learning Outcomes: Common Course Number Outcomes
- Evaluate a variety of historical sources to the early 1800s.
- Describe continuities and changes in American history (e.g., political, social, economic, cultural).
- Construct evidence-based historical arguments.
- Communicate historical knowledge and analysis effectively in written and/or verbal forms.

- Apply analytical skills to social phenomena in order to understand human behavior.
