DRF 243 Architectural Design

Credits: 3

Covers elements and principles of aesthetic design. Applies 3-D design and model to assigned project. Develops light commercial/residential project with emphasis on specific design criteria.

Prerequisite: DRF 240  and DRF 272 , each with a grade of C or better; or consent of instructor.
Student Learning Outcomes:
  1. Make decisions based on aesthetic principles. 
  2. Complete design drawings using the elements of point, line, shape, plane, volume, and texture. 
  3. Incorporate the design principles of repetition, balance, rhythm, harmony, contrast, and unity into the assigned projects. 
  4. Using the above aesthetic principles, design an assigned architectural project given specific design criteria. 
  5. Present the assigned project using Architectural Desktop and 3-D Studio as presentation system. 
  6. Create model of building design.
