ECE 163 Preschool Practicum


Lecture Hours: 1
Lab Hours: 6
Credits: 4

Provides experience working with young children in a laboratory preschool setting. Assists with supervision of the various activities in a preschool program. Includes some curriculum planning for the young child.

Prerequisite: HDF 225 , HDF 247 , HDF 248 , and ECE 151 ; and consent of ECE faculty. (All prerequisite courses must be completed with a grade of C or better.)
Student Learning Outcomes:
  1. Perform in the role of a preschool aide.
  2. Identify the teacher’s role and other staff responsibilities.
  3. Practice communicating and working cooperatively and effectively with others.
  4. Supervise children using appropriate guidance techniques.
  5. Plan and implement developmentally appropriate activities that support the development of all children
