AUM 273 Advanced Safety Systems Lecture Hours: 2 Lab Hours: 6 Credits: 4
Focuses on diagnosis, repair, and service of a vehicle’s safety systems including but not limited to: ABS, traction control, stability control, active suspension, passive restraints and ADAS. Emphasizes speed and accuracy in diagnosis and repair. Builds on prior training.
Prerequisite: AUM 267 , AUM 282 , and AUM 286 , each with a grade of C or better; or consent of instructor. Differential Fee Yes Student Learning Outcomes:
- Use industry standard safe working practices in making repairs.
- Correctly use automotive hand tools, power tools and diagnostic equipment.
- Describe and demonstrate the communication required between tool room personnel, parts people, and customers.
- Use service manuals and online resources to perform accurate diagnosis
- Diagnose and repair or replace faulty components or systems.
- Calculate shop flat rate on assigned repairs.
