HTM 143 Hospitality IT Systems Lecture Hours: 4 Credits: 4
Focuses on the current methods that tourists and travel providers use to connect to, purchase, and/or sell travel related products and services. Explores travel information systems, rate negotiation, and distribution of services.
Student Learning Outcomes:
- Describe the various ways in which tourists buy travel products and services.
- Identify and describe how travelers access information from other travelers.
- Explain the importance of intermediaries in the distribution of tourism services.
- Identify and describe the three different types of distribution channels that are used for tourism services.
- Define the roles of travel agencies in bringing tourists and tourism providers together.
- Identify and describe the major global distribution systems currently used to book travel-related products and services.
