BH 284S Practicum: Social Service Lecture Hours: 1 Lab Hours: 9 Credits: 4
Provides experience working on-site in a social service agency to integrate field and classroom experiences. Offers Social Service students a practicum site during the certificate degree acquisition.
Prerequisite: Completion of BH170; and concurrent enrollment in BH203, and BH214 with a grade of C or better in all courses; or consent of instructor. Repeatable: May be repeated for a maximum of 4 credits.
Student Learning Outcomes:
- Awareness of client individual treatment needs based on cultural norms, language, values, beliefs, gender, trauma history, and economic status.
- Use case management skills for client care coordination.
- Participate in consultation and referral services for clients and agency partners.
- Conduct and compose screenings and assessments using agency standards.
- Meet agency personnel and professional standards.
