BH 284S Practicum: Social Service

Provides experience working on-site in a social service agency to integrate field and classroom experiences. Offers Social Service students a practicum site during the certificate degree acquisition.

Prerequisite: Completion of BH170; and concurrent enrollment in BH203, and BH214 with a grade of C or better in all courses; or consent of instructor.
Repeatable: May be repeated for a maximum of 4 credits.

Student Learning Outcomes:

Awareness of client individual treatment needs based on cultural norms, language, values, beliefs, gender, trauma history, and economic status.
Use case management skills for client care coordination.
Participate in consultation and referral services for clients and agency partners.
Conduct and compose screenings and assessments using agency standards.
Meet agency personnel and professional standards.
