HDF 286 Professional Issues and Leadership Early Childhood Education Lecture Hours: 2 Credits: 2
Prepares early childhood educators to fill the many professional roles that require basic knowledge of ethics, conflict resolution, understanding of the special needs child, advocacy, governmental processes, leadership, and development of a professional attitude and point of view. Covers the development of the early childhood education field and profession.
Prerequisite: Second-year standing in the Early Childhood Education program; or consent of instructor. Student Learning Outcomes:
- Demonstrate professionalism in working with diverse parents/guardians, co-workers, children and the community.
- Evaluate conflict resolution techniques.
- Analyze and apply an ethical decision making process.
- Formulate an understanding of advocacy and influence on a variety of constituents.
- Describe and utilize the Oregon Registry Online, state licensing and certifying laws.
- Demonstrate leadership in personal and professional settings.
