ANES 104 Anesthesia Technology Lab 2

Build on competencies learned during Anesthesia Lab 1 and practice advanced Anesthesia competencies. Including but not limited to: advanced airway management, advanced anesthesia machine troubleshooting, advanced anesthesia equipment set up maintenance and troubleshooting, advanced physiological monitoring including arterial lines, central and pulmonary artery lines, and assisting the anesthesiologist. Demand strategies for intubation and rapid response to airway management crisis, and care and use of emergency airway management devices. Set up maintenance and troubleshooting of hemodynamic monitoring equipment.

Prerequisite: ANES 103 with a grade of C or better; or consent of instructor.
Corequisite: BI 234 and PHM 244.
Student Learning Outcomes:

Demonstrate set-up and function of basic equipment for anesthesia care
Describes set-up and function of advanced equipment for anesthesia care.
Compare and contrast use of hemodynamic monitoring equipment, function, application, and troubleshooting.
Demonstrate ability to utilize monitoring equipment during invasive, non-invasive, emergent, and non-emergent procedures.
Apply anesthesiology process and critical thinking to the care of the surgical patient at the foundational level.
Develop individual Anesthesia care plan at the foundational level.
Provide safe, effective support of the Anesthesia provider, in the care of the surgical patient.
Describe anesthesia machine checkout procedure.
