APR 153B Electrician Apprenticeship AC/DC Circuits Lecture Hours: 4 Lab Hours: 2 Credits: 5
Provides training for the Inside Wire Electrician Apprentice. Covers mathematical formulas of equations, basic AC theory, use of test equipment, and applicable Oregon Electrical Specialty Code. Includes safety procedures.
Prerequisite: APR 153A with a grade of C or better; or consent of instructor. Student Learning Outcomes:
- Solve mathematics formulas and equations related to theory and practices of the trade.
- Describe and apply basic theory of electrical sources in AC circuits series and parallel circuits series, parallel circuits, and point-to-point methods for short circuit calcualations.
- Use of test equipment to make electrical measurements.
- Develop an understanding of the NEC to interpret and comply with applicable code requirements.
- Obtain certification for basic first aid and CPR training.
