APR 156C HVAC/R Apprenticeship Fundamentals 3 Lecture Hours: 4 Lab Hours: 2 Credits: 5
Focuses on soldering and brazing, bending and flaring tubing, and steel piping. Designed for Oregon State recognized apprentices working in the HVAC/R trade.
Prerequisite: APR 156B with a grade ‘C’ or better; or consent of instructor. Student Learning Outcomes:
- Recognize types of copper tubing and related fittings.
- Describe and demonstrate how to join copper tubing mechanically.
- Demonstrate the safe process of soldering copper tubing
- Describe and demonstrate the safe process of brazing copper tubing.
- Identify the various types of steel pipe and fittings.
- Demonstrate the methods used to cut and thread steel pipe.
