APR 166W Welding Processes for Apprenticeship Lecture Hours: 2 Lab Hours: 6 Credits: 4
Introduces the fundamentals of shield metal arc welding, oxyacetylene welding and cutting, metallic inert gas (MIG) welding, and arc-air procedures.
Prerequisite: Enrollment in the Sheet Metal Apprenticeship program; or consent of instructor. Student Learning Outcomes:
- Exercise all safety rules that apply to the shielded metal arc, MIG, and oxyacetylene welding process.
- Demonstrate the proper operation, including set-up and shut-down of arc, MIG, and oxyacetylene welding and cutting equipment.
- Demonstrate proficiency in making various welds and cuts, using arc, MIG, and oxyacetylene equipment.
