APR 266L CAD for Apprenticeship Lecture Hours: 2 Lab Hours: 3 Credits: 3
Incorporates hands-on experience with computer-aided drafting (CAD) software. Introduces standard graphics commands for two-dimensional drawings. Most students will use AutoCAD, but other general-purpose CAD software can also be used.
Student Learning Outcomes:
- Use draw commands to accurately generate prescribed shapes.
- Utilize modify functions to edit and enhance drawings.
- Create blocks and insert them into drawings.
- Apply text and dimensions in drawings.
- Utilize Object Snap modes with the graphics digitizer (mouse).
- Use polar and rectangular coordinate systems to create drawings.
- Use file commands to save and retrieve drawings.
- Create and use layers to organize drawing information.
- Differentiate between model space and layout space objects.
- Use Zoom and Pan commands to navigate within drawing environment.
