BA 285 Organizational Behavior Lecture Hours: 4 Credits: 4
Explores interpersonal relations in an organizational setting. Topics include: interpersonal communications, individual and group behavior, leadership, forms and sources of power, organizational politics, organizational culture, conflict management, and change management.
Recommended: Placement into WR 121Z and BA 101Z with a grade of C or better.
Student Learning Outcomes:
- Use verbal and nonverbal communication skills to maintain a positive work environment.
- Recognize and describe individual and cultural differences. Develop strategies to maintain a positive working relationship with a variety of points of view, life styles, and backgrounds.
- Define classic and contemporary quality-control methods.
- Describe the factors affecting customer relations and service. Explain the nature of positive customer relations and the concept of customer service.
- Develop methods to manage anger, stress, interpersonal animosity, and other problems related to conflict.
- Analyze and recommend the best strategy to resolve a conflict.
- Relate current learning theories to training methods used in business settings.
