BLD 267 Plan Review 1 Lecture Hours: 2 Lab Hours: 2 Credits: 3
Examines the techniques and processes of non-structural plans. Includes familiarization with plan and construction documents, specifications, and the application of fire, life and safety code requirements.
Prerequisite: BLD 269 with a grade of C or better; or consent of instructor. Student Learning Outcomes:
- Identify the types of construction used in non-structural plans.
- Use codes to identify occupancy group and subdivision, based on construction plans.
- Read and interpret construction drawings.
- Calculate allowable area, based on occupancy and type of construction.
- Determine location or required area and occupancy of separation walls.
- Assess fire-restiveness, based upon actual drawings.
- Apply location-on-property requirements.
- List code violations, based upon actual construction drawings.
- Used electronic plan review tools to mark-up plans and document corrections
