CAM 230 CAM Programming Mills Lecture Hours: 1 Lab Hours: 4 Credits: 3
Introduces the concepts and application of Computer-Aided Manufacturing (CAM) software programs for creating CNC milling machine part programs.
Prerequisite: Fourth-term standing in the Machining Technology program; or consent of instructor. Student Learning Outcomes:
- Produce CNC milling machine part programs on a computer utilizing CAM software.
- Use graphic primitives, tool and layer properties, coordinate systems, editing, work and tool planes, roughing planes, and text relative to milling machines.
- Detail tooling and machining processes utilizing NC Manager.
- Describe material removal libraries for specific tool types and materials.
- Create mill part programs using parametrics.
- Create mill parts from CAM developed programs.
- Apply previous knowledge and skills for CAM and CNC systems, measuring, inspection, quality control, and GDT to the creation of lathe parts.
- Practice standard industry work ethics and habits to include teamwork, honesty, responsibility, punctuality, attendance, personal appearance, cooperation, positive attitude and effective interaction skills.
