ED 105 Teacher Cadets

Covers practical application of theory and fundamental concepts of preschool, elementary, and secondary education, including history, development, and organization.

Student Learning Outcomes:
  1. Identify characteristics of self as a learner (e.g. learning styles, multiple intelligences). 
  2. Distinguish between effective and ineffective teaching. 
  3. Explain and demonstrate the process of teaching, including effective communication skills in the classroom. 
  4. Identify and utilize various methods of instruction and teaching resources. 
  5. Compare various classroom experiences, including whole class instruction, individual tutoring, and group monitoring. 
  6. Examine the history and development of education in the public schools. 
  7. Distinguish between various alternatives to public education (e.g. private schools, home schooling, etc.). 
  8. Debate various educational issues, including online instruction 
  9. Explain how individuals and schools react to and handle the need for change. 
  10. Develop one’s own vision of the transformation of education. 
  11. Discuss the challenges of diversity in the classroom. 
  12. Discuss current ethical and legal issues as they arise in the classroom.
