ED 114 Instructional Strategies in Math Lecture Hours: 3 Credits: 3
Introduces the development of math concepts and presents a systematic approach to math instruction. Students learn to link math instruction and assessment to state content standards.
Prerequisite: MTH 060 with a grade of C or better; or consent of instructor. Student Learning Outcomes:
- Demonstrate a math concept at the concept, connecting, and symbolic level of understanding.
- Assess the mathematical knowledge of children.
- Identify a developmentally appropriate math activity for a selected audience.
- Create and organize a math notebook containing developmentally appropriate lesson plans for each of the math concepts covered in this course.
- Integrate math when planning lessons.
- Teach a math activity to a small group of children.
- Design and teach a math skill integrating computer technology.
