Covers ambulance operations, laws, maintenance and safety, emergency response driving, and route planning.
Student Learning Outcomes:
- Cite appropriate laws relating to operation of an ambulance and emergency vehicle.
- Describe types of ambulances, required markings, and placement of warning devices.
- Conduct required vehicle maintenance and safety checks, including oil check, cleaning fluid refill, tire pressure check, fueling, etc.
- Describe and use defensive and safe driving techniques.
- Use a map book and other appropriate location finders.
- Prepare the vehicle for responding to emergencies and transporting patients according to emergency response standards.
