ENL 031N Intermediate Reading C1 Lecture Hours: 4 Credits: 4
Introduces writing as a multi-step process. Designed for intermediate non-native speakers of English.
Prerequisite: Prerequisite: Placement according to established criteria based upon standardized assessments. Student Learning Outcomes:
- Use a variety of strategies to plan and organize simple enumerative paragraphs (first, second, next).
- Write paragraphs focused on a single topic that includes a topic sentence, reasons, details or examples, and a concluding sentence.
- Use every day and some specialized vocabulary and transitions to enhance and connect reasons and details in text.
- Use basic grammar to construct text of coherently linked simple, compound and complex sentences.
- Use self and peer feedback to clarify meaning and better address the writing purpose.
- Proofread and apply knowledge of writing conventions to enhance reader understanding.
- Use technology to accomplish required tasks.

- Edit and Proofread
- Edit and proofread for basic writing conventions in grammar, usage, spelling, punctuation, capitalization, and vocabulary usage.
- Use a variety of sentences (simple, compound, and complex) to enhance paragraphs
- Use tools to edit/proofread such as peer editing, dictionaries, editing checklists, or simple rubrics
- Digital Literacy
