FRP 161 Fire Management Practices Lecture Hours: 1 Credits: 1
Covers the concept of fire management including the role of departments and districts in local government, funding and selection methods for providing fire protection.
Student Learning Outcomes:
- Differentiate three ways in which fire departments are organized.
- Explain how fire protection services fit into local government resources.
- Compare “line” and “staff” positions, and relate the functions and responsibilities of each, and the relationships that exist between the two personnel areas.
- Use the informal communication processes to convey information.
- Use five types of formal fire-related communications.
- Determine the sources, format, and management of the employing jurisdiction’s financial management system.
- Distinguish personal administration responsibilities and staffing responsibilities.
- Determine equipment and staffing needs for an identified response area.
- Develop and implement a one-day schedule of activities for a fire service company.
