FRP 166 Firefighter’s Law Lecture Hours: 1 Credits: 1
Covers the legal responsibilities and rights of firefighters in driving, inspection, emergency operations, communication and fire prevention. Includes a firefighter’s rights as a civil service employee.
Student Learning Outcomes:
- Drive emergency apparatus using the standard exemptions and legal responsibilities provided for emergency responders in the Oregon Traffic Code.
- Determine the authority and responsibility in fire cause and fire abatement provided to state and local officials in Title 38 of the Oregon Revised Statutes.
- Apply Oregon’s tort liability law to personal and organizational firefighting situations.
- Apply Oregon and Federal statutes and case law in dealing with employee rights.
