FRP 256 Emergency Services Rescue Practices

Presents technical information on various emergency services rescue situations. Covers tools and personal protective equipment, ropes and knots, trench rescue, confined space rescue, water rescue, building searches, outdoor searches, rescue in situations involving elevation differences, package patients, and vehicle extrication.

Student Learning Outcomes:
  1. Define the role of the emergency service organizations involving various rescue situations.
  2. Describe the desired organizational structure at an emergency scene and be able to apply that structure to various scenarios.
  3. Use basic rescue equipment, including ropes and knots, and other related equipment in rescue situations.
  4. Describe the appropriate response to emergent situations.
  5. Select and use extrication tools including, hydraulic tools, various hand tools, and other related equipment.
  6. Use standard immobilization and extrication techniques to package and remove injured victims.
