HDF 248 Learning Experiences for Young Children Lecture Hours: 3 Credits: 3
Covers theories of intellectual development and includes development analysis, presentation, and evaluation of learning activities support development in all domains (physical, social, emotional, and intellectual). Emphasizes activities and materials which support open-ended, child-directed play and discovery in science (physics, chemistry, and biology) and language and literacy (representational and social knowledge), in an inclusive environment for children of all developmental levels.
Prerequisite: HDF 225 and HDF 247 , each with a grade of C or better; or consent of instructor. Student Learning Outcomes:
- Describe the role of the teacher in developmentally appropriate curriculum planning.
- Demonstrate knowledge of content areas and use terminology related to planning activities for the development of the whole child.
- Plan, implement, extend, and evaluate appropriate activities.
- Describe how activities support social, physical, emotional, and intellectual development.
