Explores the relationship between growing up in a chemically-dependent or dysfunctional family and ensuing problems in adulthood. Discusses family dynamics, denial, relationships, work, social skills and feelings.
Student Learning Outcomes:
- Identify dysfunctional family dynamics and their impact on their growth and development.
- Explore the denial system in their family of origin.
- Describe the other addictions often related to adult children of alcoholics issues.
- Describe the relationship between childhood dysfunction and deficits in social, intimacy, work, and expressive skills.
- Identify the community resources available for adult children of alcoholics/addicts and for other dysfunctions.
