HS 207 Adult Children of Alcoholics and Addicts

Explores the relationship between growing up in a chemically-dependent or dysfunctional family and ensuing problems in adulthood. Discusses family dynamics, denial, relationships, work, social skills and feelings.

Student Learning Outcomes:
  1. Identify dysfunctional family dynamics and their impact on their growth and development. 
  2. Explore the denial system in their family of origin. 
  3. Describe the other addictions often related to adult children of alcoholics issues. 
  4. Describe the relationship between childhood dysfunction and deficits in social, intimacy, work, and expressive skills. 
  5. Identify the community resources available for adult children of alcoholics/addicts and for other dysfunctions.
