MLD 387 Project Management

Provides the foundation for understanding the concepts of successful project planning, organization, budgeting, implementation, and reporting. Explores recent case studies for utilization in developing their own plans for presentation. Develops project plans including the full life cycle of a project utilizing life-cycle analysis, working schedules, industry technologies, and budget evaluations.

Prerequisite: Admittance into Applied Baccalaureate Program; completion of AAS degree; or consent of instructor.
Student Learning Outcomes:

Identify project to be developed.
Produce goals and scope of project to be undertaken.
Develop team members, responsibilities, and organizational structure.
Create specific assignments to address all tasks required to complete the project.
Produce evaluation forms and criteria for successful project completion.

Content Outline

Identify a project to address specific needs in a business.
- Evaluate known industry needs requiring a project plan.
- Explain key components of project plan.
Produce overall goals and expected results of identified project.
- Identify specific goals to be achieved.
- Create scope of project to limit broad overreach.
Create a full list of team members by responsibilities to address project scope.
- Utilize position descriptions for team responsibilities.
- Establish an organization chart identifying leadership and reporting responsibilities.
Articulate, and demonstrate knowledge of tasks required.
- Explain tasks identified for assignments and personnel plan.
- Develop timeline and budget for completion and implementation to complete the project.
Produce reporting criteria to evaluate successful project plan.
- Establish criteria for each task, and total project evaluation.
- Produce review of budget and overruns.
