NUR 171 Strategies for Success in the Nursing Program

Reinforces the basic skills that are built on in the nursing curriculum. Includes a review of the Nursing program, study skills, coping strategies, testing, the nursing process, medical terminology, documentation, lab and diagnostic testing, pharmacology, and simulation. Takes a hands-on approach to learning through application of concepts within the Nursing Program.

Corequisite: NUR 106 .
Student Learning Outcomes:
  1. Correlate the expectations, values, and culture of nursing to the Nursing Program. 
  2. Implement a plan for workload demands of the Nursing Program.
  3. Identify coping strategies to manage stress in the Nursing Program.
  4. Use a variety of test-taking strategies throughout the nursing program. 
  5. Apply patient scenario information to at least three Interactive Worksheet (IW) components.
