PE 185TH Tennis, Adv Lab Hours: 3 Credits: 1
An activity course promoting fitness and recreation through instruction on tennis fundamentals. Instruction on play will include stroke production, rules, scoring, strategy, and tennis etiquette.
Student Learning Outcomes: Beginning
- Identify and use the serve, volley, forehand, and backhand.
- Employ correct tennis rules and scoring for singles and doubles.
- Use appropriate tennis etiquette.
- Demonstrate full participation in the skill of tennis.
Intermediate
- Meet beginning objectives.
- Identify and utilize the lob and overhead.
- Demonstrate tennis strategies for singles and doubles.
Advanced
- Meet all beginning and intermediate objectives.
- Identify and use half-volley and spin and twist serves and topspin.
- Demonstrate strategies for competitive singles and doubles.
- Demonstrate proper care of tennis equipment.
