Offers a high level fitness and recreation program through participation in various sports and group games. May improve some or all of the areas of physical fitness: cardiovascular, muscular, body composition, and flexibility. Games may include Ultimate Frisbee, Soccer, Flag Football, Volleyball, Basketball, European Handball, or other.
Student Learning Outcomes: Beginning
- Develop the knowledge, individual skills and conditioning necessary to successfully participate in various competitive group games.
- Identify & utilize correct terminology & rules during various group fitness games.
- Demonstrate full participation in warm up, conditioning activities, organized games, and cool-down for various ultimate games.
- Describe how ultimate games promote fitness in the areas of cardio-respiratory, muscular, body composition, and flexibility.
- Use sporting behaviors to display a positive attitude, appropriate teamwork, and respectful interactions with teammates and instructor.
Intermediate
- Perform all outcomes of a beginning conditioning program.
- Develop and apply correct use of rules, sportsmanship, and a positive spirit of the game to all ultimate games.
- Develop and apply knowledge of offensive and defensive strategies in the games.
Content Outline Beginning
- Conditioning skills in 4 Components of fitness
- Warm ups, Cool-downs, drills
- Terminology, Skills, Fundamentals and Rules for various games (this may include Ultimate Frisbee, Soccer, Flag Football, Volleyball, Basketball, European Handball, or other)
