Develop and participate in a walking plan to gain and maintain cardio-respiratory fitness.

Student Learning Outcomes:
Beginning 

  1. Describe cardio-respiratory fitness and walking benefits. 
  2. Identify of long- and short-term fitness goals. 
  3. Assess individual cardio-respiratory fitness level. 
  4. Participate in group and/or  individualized walking program. 
  5. Record weekly walking activity. 
  6. Perform a “long walk”. 

Intermediate 

  1. Meet beginning objectives. 
  2. Demonstrate correct long distance walking form. 
  3. Execute speed or race walking form. 
  4. Discuss prevention of injuries. 

Advanced 

  1. Meet beginning and intermediate objectives. 
  2. Compare cross country walking with race walking. 
  3. Calculate and discuss calorie expenditure.
