VMW 114 Winter Vineyard Practices Lecture Hours: 3 Lab Hours: 2 Credits: 4
Surveys winter vineyard management practices. Covers training, pruning, propagation, bench grafting, and simple trellis designs.
Prerequisite: VMW 101 with a grade of C or better; or consent of instructor. Student Learning Outcomes:
- Prune on a variety of trellising systems.
- Prepare cuttings and apply grafting skills.
- Calculate pruning statistics to adjust yield and manage the canopy.
- Plan and install a simple trellis system.
- Recognize winter disease symptoms and vineyard pests and recommend control systems.
