VMW 114 Winter Vineyard Practices

Surveys winter vineyard management practices. Covers training, pruning, propagation, bench grafting, and simple trellis designs.

Prerequisite: VMW 101  with a grade of C or better; or consent of instructor.
Student Learning Outcomes:
  1. Prune on a variety of trellising systems.
  2. Prepare cuttings and apply grafting skills.
  3. Calculate pruning statistics to adjust yield and manage the canopy.
  4. Plan and install a simple trellis system.
  5. Recognize winter disease symptoms and vineyard pests and recommend control systems.
