VMW 262 Vineyard Pest Management Lecture Hours: 4 Credits: 4
Covers the identification and management of all relevant pests, diseases, and weeds in vineyard systems. Develops pest monitoring and decision-making skills for vineyard management. Investigates integrated pest management approaches, including cultural, biological, chemical, and other methods. Reviews relevant pest management regulations.
Prerequisite: VMW 101 with a grade of C or better; or consent of instructor. Student Learning Outcomes:
- Identify beneficial and pest species found in vineyard systems.
- Demonstrate monitoring techniques for relevant vineyard pests and diseases.
- Describe the life cycles of pests and diseases.
- Identify the timing of grapevine susceptibility to various pests and diseases.
- Compare different management approaches.
- Calibrate sprayers for herbicide and fungicide applications.
- Assess effectiveness of sprayers and spray programs.
- Explain regulations as they pertain to pest management spray applications.
