FRP 293 Fire Incident Related Experience 6 Lecture Hours: 2 Lab Hours: 4 Credits: 4
Provides education and training based on NFPA 1001 Firefighter II to include ignitable liquids and flammable gas control, foam fire streams, identification of fire cause and area of origin, hose, appliance, and tool maintenance. Students will continue to participate in evolution-based training utilizing NFPA Firefighter I and II skills and will successfully complete NFPA Firefighter II Task Performance Evaluation.
Prerequisite: FRP 292 with a grade of C or better; or consent of instructor. Student Learning Outcomes:
- Demonstrate the ability to prepare a foam concentrate supply for use, assemble foam stream components, master various foam application techniques, and approach and retreat from spills as part of a coordinated team.
- Extinguish an ignitable liquid fire, operating as a member of a team.
- Control a flammable gas cylinder fire, operating as a member of a team.
- Demonstrate the ability to locate the fire’s origin area, recognize possible causes, and protect the evidence.
- Maintain power plants, power tools, and lighting equipment, per program procedures and/or manufacturers’ instructions.
- Perform an annual service test on fire hose, given a pump, a marking device, pressure gauges, a timer, record sheets, and related equipment
- Demonstrate continued proficiency in NFPA Firefighter I and II skills
- Successfully complete NFPA Firefighter II Task Performance Evaluation.
