CJ 261G Law Enforcement Related Experience 7 Lecture Hours: 3 Lab Hours: 6 Credits: 6
LERE 7 focuses on topics, training, and practical application covered in the LERE coursework that aligns with best practices and the most modern techniques used in the law enforcement profession. Involves an overview of criminal Oregon Revised Statutes as related to Measure 11 crimes and their investigation, and successful investigations utilizing Cognitive Interviewing techniques, writing, serving a search warrant and the completion of the search warrant affidavit, raid plan, warrant return, and physical evidence collection. Covers the proper handling and use of firearms, defensive tactics skill building, physical fitness training, and confrontation simulations involving ominous resistance. Introduces active shooter response, stress and burnout training and an officer survival challenge.
Prerequisite: CJ 261F with a grade of C or better; or consent of instructor. Student Learning Outcomes:
- Locate Measure 11 crimes in the Oregon Criminal Code Book.
- Describe the purpose of the different types of building clears and the reasons for each type.
- Describe the importance of a warrant affidavit, warrant, raid plan, and warrant return and perform the skill of writing these types of police report.
- Perform all building clearing techniques following all safety guidelines and standards.
- Perform a warrant service following all guidelines as set through statute, Constitutional law, and court direction.
- Perform learned defensive tactics skills and firearms use skills, while abiding under current use of force case law, in an ominous resistance contact.
