BH 141 Nicotine Treatment Lecture Hours: 1 Credits: 1
Provides an overview of the science of nicotine addiction, how it is similar and different to other addictions, and the assessment tools and treatment planning suggested in integrating treatment. Covers pharmacological supports available to aid in treatment.
Student Learning Outcomes:
- Discuss the rationale for treating nicotine dependence in conjunction with treatment of other substances.
- Discuss the science of nicotine dependence and how it is similar and different from other addictions.
- Assess for nicotine dependence using tools and existing diagnostic criteria.
- Conduct an intervention.
- Develop a treatment plan for nicotine dependence.
- Provide an overview of the various pharmacotherapies available to treat nicotine dependence.
- Develop a lesson plan for including nicotine and secondhand smoke information for an education group.
