BH 170 Introduction to Practicum Lecture Hours: 3 Credits: 3
Provides the background and specific skills needed to select and succeed in the practicum placement and future employment. Familiarizes students with local social service agencies and organizations.
Recommended: Enrollment in Behavioral Health courses.
Student Learning Outcomes:
- Describe the purpose of a practicum as it relates to the behavioral health field.
- Explain the roles, competencies, and functions common to behavioral health workers.
- Identify cognitive, behavioral, and affective learning in relation to self and others.
- Write objectives in measurable terms in order to assess progress at practicum sites.
- Identify issues relating to personal behavior in a behavioral health agency.
- Review existing opportunities for practicum and apply the procedures for selecting and entering a practicum site.
- Articulate interests, values, and limits as they relate to practicum and career goals.
- Develop resume’ and cover letter, job search skills, interview techniques, and research behavioral health agencies for practicum placement.
