BH 209 Co-Occurring Disorders Lecture Hours: 3 Credits: 3
Covers basic information about integrated assessment and treatment for individuals with both substance use disorders and mental health conditions.
Prerequisite: Admitted to Behavioral Health program, or consent of instructor; and BH 101 and BA 216 with a grade of C or better; or consent of instructor. Student Learning Outcomes:
- Define and identify the dynamics of co-occurring disorders.
- Assess client readiness for change in multiple areas of concern.
- Assess personal attitudes and beliefs about individuals with co-occurring disorders.
- Understand principles of integrated treatment.
- Identify basic screening and assessment information.
- Apply strategies for working with clients with co-occurring disorders.
- Identify self-care skills to prevent compassion fatigue.
