WLD 205 Fabrication Benchworks and Fundamentals Lecture Hours: 1 Lab Hours: 2 Credits: 2
Studies common fabrication tools, basic layout procedure, basic layout tools, common measurement tools, and the appropriate usage as it pertains to the welding and fabrication industry. Course includes a basic understanding of measurement, basic understanding tolerances, measurement inspection, semi-precision measurement, precision measurement, the proper use of measuring tools, all associated with fabrication of metal products.
Prerequisite: Fourth term standing in the Welding Technology program; or consent of instructor. Differential Fee Yes Student Learning Outcomes:
- Conduct oneself in a manner consistent with industry standards, concerning shop safety, personal safety and general work habits.
- Demonstrate identification, and basic operation of measuring tools and related equipment.
- Demonstrate and perform acceptable care, storage, cleaning, and handling of measuring instruments.
- Demonstrate a basic understanding of measurement and tolerance as it pertains to the welding and fabrication industry.
- Identify and select appropriate precision measuring tools for making fundamental measurements, calculations, and inspections.
- Demonstrate selection and application of measuring tools, for inspection and layout used in the fabrication industry.
