MLD 482BH Applied Leadership 2-Behavioral Health Supervision

Broaden and build trauma informed clinical leadership capacity and capability for creating, maintaining, and growing effective clinical services in behavioral health. Focus on individual and system dynamics that impact supervision and provider services. Gain awareness of trauma informed skills that foster organizational processes for sustainable trauma informed workforce in behavioral health organizations. Build individual capacity to lead, engage, and manage change through trauma informed clinical supervision and management.

Prerequisite: MLD 481   and Certified Alcohol & Drug Counselor (CADC) II or III or Qualified Mental Health Professional (QMHP) or higher credential or consent of instructor.
Recommended: Work in behavioral health or related clinical settings with opportunities for clinical supervision, and Certified Alcohol & Drug Counselor (CADC) II or III or Qualified Mental Health Professional (QMHP) or higher credential or consent of instructor.

    • Define communication programming for behavioral health providers.
    • Explain trauma informed structures to drive trauma informed services.
  • Identify Personal Style of Management and Clinical Supervision
    • Understand diverse leadership tendencies.
    • Establish a plan for trauma informed work with supervisees and self-assessment for monitoring effectiveness.
  • Produce Plan to Connect With Trauma Informed Clinical Supervisors and Leaders
    • Identify specific trauma informed leaders of influence within behavioral health.
    • Understand which supervisor model is most effective for the supervisees in behavioral health organization.
  • Application of Trauma Informed Supervision Principles
    • Practice trauma informed clinical supervision.
    • Articulate reasoning and effectiveness for intervention used.
