DSL 210 Diesel Technology Heavy Duty Brakes

1. Disassemble, inspect, reassemble, and understand components of air brake systems, truck foundation brakes, antilock brake systems and 5th wheel hitches.
2. Use tools to properly repair and maintain brake systems.
3. Diagnose failures and practice researching the failure symptoms in service manuals and other sources to research and diagnosis failures. 
4. Use protective gear and safe procedures in all work areas.
5. Conduct repairs in an ethical and professional manner, respecting industry safety and environmental guidelines.
6. Communicate with co-workers, customers, management, and public in a professional and knowledgeable manner.

• Braking fundamentals and air brake foundations. 
  • Identify the components of an air brake system 
  • Identify brake performance issues 
  • Outline the operation of the valves and controls.  
  • Service S-cam and wedge actuated drum brakes 
  • Inspect, service, diagnose disc and drum brakes 
• Air Brake circuits and valves 
  • Identify components of a truck hydraulic brake system 
  • Inspect or replace parking brake chamber 
  • Inspect, test, and replace parking brake application and release valve. 
•  Servicing Air Brake Air Systems 
  • Inspect hydraulic brake system 
  • Diagnosis brake related issues 
  • Identify concerns related to power assist brakes 
• Servicing air brake foundation and parking brake systems 
  • Perform functional tests and inspections on spring type parking brakes
• ABS, vehicle stability control, and collision avoidance 
• Servicing 5th wheel hitches
  • Inspect, service, and diagnose 5th wheel hitches.
