Introduces critical thinking skills and strengthens reading comprehension. Introduces active reading techniques. Applies reading techniques to a wide variety of articles and texts. Emphasizes the development of reading attack strategies including analysis of writing type, decoding vocabulary from context clues, identifying main idea and sub-topics, locating major details, and summarizing key ideas. Introduces outlining, mapping, and summarizing, to improve learning. Introduces critical reading skills such as identifying connotation and denotation, and inference. Strengthens reading comprehensions skills.
