Focuses on reading strategies for understanding poetry. Develops skills to assist in understanding of meaning from context, function of figurative language and poetic devices, effect of rhyme and rhythm, use of symbols and images, and making inferences and interpreting themes. Compares/contrasts different types and styles of poetry.
