Credits: .5

Covers definitions of the trigonometric ratios of sine, cosine and tangent and how they apply to right triangles. Includes applications involving right triangles. Reviews the concepts of angles, triangle similarity, and Pythagorean Theorem.

Student Learning Outcomes:
  1. Use mathematical problem-solving techniques involving trigonometric ratios of sine, cosine. and tangent as they relate to right triangles. Techniques include the use of diagrams along with symbolic, narrative and tabular representations.
  2. Create mathematical models of abstract and real world situations using trigonometric ratios of sine, cosine, and tangent as they relate to right triangles.
  3. Use inductive reasoning to develop mathematical conjectures involving trigonometric ratios of sine, cosine, and tangent as they relate to right triangles. Use deductive reasoning to verify and apply mathematical arguments involving these trigonometric concepts.
  4. Make mathematical connections to, and solve problems from, other disciplines involving trigonometric ratios of sine, cosine and tangent as they relate to right triangles.
  5. Use oral and written skills to communicate about trigonometric ratios of sine, cosine and tangent as they relate to right triangles.
  6. Use appropriate technology to enhance mathematical thinking and understanding and to solve mathematical problems involving trigonometric ratios of sine, cosine, and tangent as they relate to right triangles and judge the reasonableness of the results.
