APR 170A Preschool Child Development Lecture Hours: 3 Credits: 3
Examines the principles of development as they apply to the young child ages 2 ½ to 6 years. Emphasizes typical and atypical development in the physical, intellectual, social, and emotional domains.
Prerequisite: Placement into WR 090 ; or consent of instructor. Student Learning Outcomes:
- Demonstrate a strong foundation of understanding of typical and atypical development in children aged 2-5 in all domans.
- Explain the impacts of multiple contexts of influences on child development.
- Describe theories of deveopment and apply them to real life examples.
- Describe and defend the importance of play developmentally appropriate practice as it supports healthy physical, social, emotional and intellectual development at home, school and in the community.
