APR 170D Introduction to ECE & Observation

Focuses on the history of early childhood education (birth to 8 years) and the value and use of objective observations as a teaching tool. Includes a survey of professional opportunities within the field and observation in a variety of childcare settings including early childhood education and early childhood special education and venues.

Student Learning Outcomes:
  1. Explain major issues in the field of early childhood education. 
  2. Provide an historical overview of early childhood education. 
  3. Use strategies to objectively observe children actions and behaviors. 
  4. Apply observation skills to various aged children in a variety of settings. 
  5. Identify and articulate strengths and challenges of a variety of programs.
