BLD 153 Building Codes 3 Lecture Hours: 3 Credits: 3
Provides a comprehensive review of the International Building Code including pedestrian protection, permanent occupancy, prefabricated construction, fire systems, energy conservation, and architectural barriers.
Prerequisite: BLD 152 with a grade of C or better; or consent of instructor. Student Learning Outcomes:
- Assess pedestrian protection requirements for buildings under construction.
- Explain the different provisions for restrooms and plumbing fixtures in buildings
- Inspect energy conservation requirements and features for new buildings
- Identify requirements for safety glazing.
- Explain how to apply the provisions for plastic used in a building.
- Analyze the requirements for elevators in a building.
- Interpret the International Building Code in a manner consistent with the standards for building inspectors.
