BLD 193A Building Inspection Lab Lecture Hours: 1 Lab Hours: 3 Credits: 2
Provides code standards and conditions typical of building inspection work for inspectors in the following areas: mechanical inspection, structural inspection, and one- and two-family dwelling codes. Stresses writing correction notices based on field observations.
Prerequisite: BLD 142 with a grade of C or better; or consent of instructor. Student Learning Outcomes:
- Apply code requirements to buildings at the time of construction
- Verify building location on property and foundation setbacks meet requirements.
- Apply code requirements to the various materials used in building construction.
- Identify the variety of inspections required at various stages of construction.
- Evaluate the design and application of building egress systems
- Identify and define all building uses by their building code classifications.
- Write technical reports and correction notices of inspection findings.
