FRP 284 Public Information for the Fire Service

Provides students with the ability to identify public and proprietary information to form media releases and develop and maintain positive relations with media representatives.

Prerequisite: FRP 173  and FRP 174 , each with a grade of C or better; or consent of instructor.
Student Learning Outcomes:
  1. Define public information and classify whether information is public or proprietary. 
  2. Identify the responsibility of media representatives in fire service areas. 
  3. Describe methods to build positive relationships with the media. 
  4. Develop media releases, given fire reports and narratives.
