FRP 284 Public Information for the Fire Service Lecture Hours: 3 Credits: 3
Provides students with the ability to identify public and proprietary information to form media releases and develop and maintain positive relations with media representatives.
Prerequisite: FRP 173 and FRP 174 , each with a grade of C or better; or consent of instructor. Student Learning Outcomes:
- Define public information and classify whether information is public or proprietary.
- Identify the responsibility of media representatives in fire service areas.
- Describe methods to build positive relationships with the media.
- Develop media releases, given fire reports and narratives.
